Protecting Your Home from Bats and Mice
"Bats & Mice - Handled the Right Way"
Focused Pest Control in Oakland County, MI
At FenGuard Pest Control, we specialize in one thing — solving bat and mouse problems the right way. No shortcuts, no temporary fixes, and no one-size-fits-all approach. Based in Oakland County, we help homeowners take back control of their homes with safe, proven methods that address the source of the issue — not just the symptoms. If bats or mice are getting in, we don’t just remove them — we make sure they can’t come back.
Bats
We remove bats safely and without harm using a structured exclusion process. First, we identify exactly where they’re entering and install one-way devices at those locations. These allow bats to exit but prevent them from getting back inside.
At the same time, we seal all other accessible entry points across the structure to ensure there are no alternative ways back in. After a short period, once all bats have exited, we return to remove the one-way devices and permanently seal those final entry points.
The goal isn’t just to clear them out — it’s to make sure they can’t come back. This step-by-step approach ensures the problem is handled correctly from start to finish.
Where Do Bats Get In?
Bat activity is most commonly found along rooflines, soffits, vents, chimneys, attic gaps, and small construction openings. Even tight gaps can be enough for entry.
We perform a detailed inspection of the structure to locate and address all potential access points, not just the obvious ones.
What Risks Do Bats Bring?
Bat droppings (guano) can accumulate in attic spaces and affect air quality over time. In some cases, this may lead to health concerns if left unaddressed.
While rabies is rare, any direct contact with a bat should always be taken seriously. If exposure is suspected, contacting a medical professional is recommended.
Is Bat Removal Safe for Them?
Yes. Our process follows established wildlife guidelines and Michigan regulations to ensure bats are removed humanely and responsibly.
We focus on protecting both your home and the animals involved.
Mice
Mice don’t wait. Once they get inside, they settle quickly and begin nesting in areas like walls, attics, basements, and kitchens.

We take a structured approach to both eliminate current activity and reduce future problems. Interior areas are treated as needed, while the main focus is placed on controlling activity from the outside.
Exterior bait stations are installed around the home to create a protective barrier, helping reduce rodent pressure before mice make their way inside. The goal isn’t just to deal with what you’re seeing — it’s to address the source and reduce the chances of it happening again.
Why Treat the Outside?
Long-term control starts at the exterior. Mice are constantly moving around the outside of the home looking for entry points.
By placing bait stations around the perimeter, we reduce the overall population near the structure and limit the chances of mice getting inside.
Are These Stations Safe?
Yes. We use tamper-resistant, lockable bait stations that require a specialized key to open.
Stations are placed strategically around the exterior of the home and are designed to help prevent access by children and pets when installed and maintained properly.
As with any pest control product, stations should not be disturbed or tampered with. We recommend notifying us if a station becomes damaged or displaced so it can be properly serviced.
Prevention
Once we get your home under control, we focus on staying one step ahead. Prevention includes addressing common, accessible entry points such as pipe penetrations, small gaps, and minor openings using materials like sealant or steel wool where appropriate.
We also keep an eye on conditions around the home and return as needed to check for new activity and maintain protection over time.
This ongoing approach is especially important for homes in Oakland County, where weather and normal wear can create new entry points over time.
